Deaf Interpreting Service for Siouxland

Deaf Interpreting Service for Siouxland (D.I.S.S.) has been in operation since 1990. It is owned and operated by Rachel Johns who is licensed in Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota. Rachel holds two National Certifications: National Association of the Deaf, (NAD) Level IV and The National Interpreter’s Certification. (NIC) She is also a long time member or the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID). Included in her work experience is more than 5 years of work as a Video Relay Service Interpreter.

D.I.S.S. is open Mon-Fri from 8a.m. - 5p.m., and telephones are answered 24 hours a day. Emergency Service is possible.  Please leave a message if you get an answering machine.  You will be called back as soon as we are aware of the message.

About The Handy Works Building

The Handy Works building is located one mile north of Sioux City on Fulton Street (just off Highway 75). It's home to Muddy Wheel Pottery which offers a variety of hand made pottery, rag dolls and other one of a kind pieces of art. It also houses Deaf Interpreting Service for Siouxland which is fully equipped with video conference software and private client meeting space.
